Martin remodeling is a general contracting company specializing in Aging in Place construction and renovations. Aging in Place is an approach to design and detailing of interior and exterior space to make a home more compatible with human needs over a broader range of ages and levels of mobility. Our goal is to help clients make a current or new home into a place where they will be truly safe, comfortable and satisfied for years to come. The design principles of Aging in Place, often called Universal Design, include reduced structural maintenance, improved interior and exterior traffic patterns, reduced risk factors that might otherwise results in falls or other injuries, and many more.
Gary Martin, founder and president, came to the realization that an increasing number of his clients were living in homes unsuited to their current needs. As a result, they often needed to move out of their established homes prematurely or to be in poorly suited space for years unnecessarily. He witnessed this challenge first-hand with a family member and, with a 30-year career in construction and engineering management, decided to do something about the problem.
As a Management Engineer and graduate of the prestigious Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Gary’s career began in the aerospace industry, but he quickly realized that he wanted a more hands-on, iterative role. After shifting into construction services, Gary began to manage ever-larger projects for a high-end contractor in Van Nuys, California. Today, he holds an industry standard Aging in Place certification to provide services focused on those at an inflection point in their own lives.
Martin Remodeling is headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, accepting projects from all across the state. Projects of interest include those that allow their occupants to live longer, more healthfully and more comfortably. If you have a project that you would like to discuss, please contact us.
